1912 work on Distinguished American Families, featuring Arms

Postby MenkAndemicael » 29 Jun 2017, 07:46

Interesting backstory, this was written by my wife's 4th Great Uncle. He was prominent Lawyer in NY and married into the Beekmans, and included his own genealogy and arms (Argent a cross flory between 4 mullets gules).
He mentions an ancestor fighting in the Revolutionary war, but our research suggests he confused him with someone else with the same name. That and the genealogical gaps between himself and some of the old ancestors he mentions made me think this might have been a creative act of establishing himself, but there's a lot to look into.

It's an interesting work regardless:

Interesting genealogical & heraldic clues! - subject to further research to confirm or correct etc.

So...you gonna publish a supplement, bringing it up to the present? If so, I suspect your own arms will be the most interesting, and certainly the best drawn, of the lot!
