The College of Arms divised these Arms and Badge för the Charles City County in Virginia in 1975.
The Laurel Wreaths represent the two US presidents born in the county William Henry Harrison and John Tyler. The Golden Cross on black represents Rev. Lott Cary the first American Missionary to Africa and a Founding Father of Liberia. He was born a Slave in Charles City. The Green border with eight Stars symbolises Charles City of one of the original eight Shires [of Virgina I guess]. The winged torch in the Crest stands for the free Public Schools started in 1870. The Maize (Corn) symbolises an indigenious Food source important to the Native residents and European Immigrants. The two Turkeys symbolises a Fowl that was a source of Flesh, Bones and Feathers to the Native residents.
The Crescents under the Crown symbolises the namesake the later King Charles I.
