Joaquin Rodrigo, first Marqués de los Jardines de Aranjuez

Postby Iain Boyd » 05 Nov 2017, 20:23

Greetings all,

Does anyone know whether Joaquin Rodrigo was presented with a coat of arms when he was ennobled by King Juan Carlos in 1991, and, if so what the blazon is and whether there is an emblazonment available?

Regards,

Iain Boyd

He was indeed granted arms. There's an emblazonment here.

The blazon in Spanish is : Escudo en campo de plata, una guitarra española, de su color, puesta en palo, sobre ondas de azur y plata; bordura de oro, con cuatro rosas, de gules, y cuatro claveles, de gules, bien dispuestos, alternados.

In English : Argent, a Spanish guitar palewise proper and in base two bars wavy Azure; a bordure Or charged with four roses alternating with as many carnations Gules.

A quibble: not "granted," but "certified." Spanish cronistas of arms do not "grant" arms.

I notice that the arms of the first Marquis of Iria Flavia include supporters.

Does anyone know whether Joaquin Rodrigo's arms also include supporters, and, if so, what they are?

Regards,

Iain Boyd
