Mr Jachim's arms are well-designed and the emblazon is excellent.

I should be interested to know the origin of the unusual helmet. As for the scythe, the design seems to require it, but I must say I have never encountered a left-handed scythe before.

Chris,

We had changed the handles in final copy, it is right handed now. The helmet was inspired by an internet image labeled Late 15th century German Gothic Armor. Client asked for a German style helmet and seemed pleased with this rendering.

This is a nice design! - the scythe and Kentucky rifle, I assume, refer to his family's early history, and the elk to his current location - though it may do double duty, since elk were also in Kentucky and other eastern states until essentially hunted out, and the eastern herds are being reestablished with transported Rocky Mountain elk in some states, including IIRC Kentucky.

While these charges arguably could as easily apply to any number of families with similar histories, the named cherry vine nicely links to his name. And the artwork is quite good!

Indeed you have. I didn't spot that subtle difference. So what we see now is the under side of the blade.

(To explain to gentle members who are not of the Board: Terry and I are comparing the emblazonment shown here with a draft that was shown earlier to Board members.)

Re: Joseph Smith - interesting design, nicely drawn. Is there a particular intended symbolism for the shield design? Maybe some nautical or naval allusion? Or just "because I like heraldic sealions" - which is also a good reason!

Re: Figueroa - very distinctive and IMO attractive design; though just reading the blazon's "bendlets interlaced" my mind's eye pictured something like a strand of DANA minus the connecting links.

Not that I have a better suggestion for blazoning this design.

Michael,

Re: Smith, the answer is he was just taken with the mythic creatures appearance.
