The motto was at the client's insistence, it has a special meaning to him. He is a pharmacist and maybe it comes from something there. If it helps we can leave off the translation. One of our clients is a language instructor in Maryland, we have started using him for all translations, so hopefully the Google translate will go by the wayside.

What do you mean by "language instructor"? What languages does he speak/teach? I am
more than happy to stand aside from critique of dodgy Latin, but if your language instructor has not studied classical Latin we are really no further forward.

Ideally we would have an official expert translator for each language willing to work for free. Although, professional translation of a motto cannot be that expensive. In this case it is two words.
If you have a list of people who you use for translations that is good. If you need someone for German, you can message me.
I am curious, how many mottos are translated per year, and what languages. I just want an idea, not an exact number.

Back to the artwork - seeing two such great, heraldically identical but artistically quite different renderings of the same arms is both enjoyable and instructive. I imagine you could use them to make a point with applicants who don't understand...

That is correct, apparently this "motto" was handed down in the family line.
