Kekkonen's long presidency was succeded by Mauno Koivisto (born 1923):
Koivisto had served as Primeminister 26 May 1979-26 January 1982. He was President 27 Janaury 1982-1 March 1994. The Birch leaves alludes to the name Koivisto which means Birch. the Motto translates as "For the Best of the Realm".
