I have been looking at the picture for a while now and I think that it is not a chevron but that the shield is chapé. In base there seems to be a depiction of water or ground and above that there seems to be some towers with possibly on top a crown but that also could just be the top of a tower.

Hello Torsten,
Your were faster. I just saw the response from Gerd H.z.B. in the HIN forum. Thanks for posting the image.
Here is the link to the Ehrenborg entry he posted.

The next question is whether the Ehrenborg family has any connection to the Chamber Music Society "af 1887" or whether this is a (Danish) red herring.

Re: mystery (to me at least) Danish coat or arms
woo hoo thanks guys this is fantastic. I still think H & B celebrate something in 1887
does the different shield shape indicate a different branch of the family? (forgive my ignorance) or is it simply an earlier version of the same family arms?
does the 'H' at the end change the name totally.
thanks so much, I genuinely could not have worked this out on my own, Bravo
Paul

Hi Paul,
Re name spelling, I can tell you that fixed and fairly standardized spelling of names in Germany (and probably most of the Nordic countries - my guess) did not occur until rather well into the 19th century, to don't worry about the 'h' at the end.
Re shield shape, in Germanic heraldry there has been a progression over time from the heater shield to the now-favored half-round shield. Lots to read on Wikipedia in this regard. Take a look there. Also come join us at the Heraldik im Netz forum (http://www.heraldik-wappen.de) where you can also post your questions on Nordic/Germanic heraldry in English. We are a multi-lingual group and share some members with the IAAH forum.

One family line was made barons (friherrar) but is now dead. Perhaps they preferred to differ the spelling from the others.
