  Equality between the sexes requires the replacement of one of the Mars symbols to a Venus symbol in the Gällivare coat.

Gällivare kommunfullmäktige has said ' yes ' to change the look and feel of the the municipal arms. This is because the municipal arms can be seen as being unfair.
It is now up to the Riksarkiv to take a position on the municipal arms can be changed.

Madness. The "Mars"symbol has, in this coat of arms, nothing whatever to do with gender. It stands for iron, the source of Gällivare's economic success (as every resident, male and female, must be aware). The "Venus" symbol stands for copper which was the source of economic success elsewhere in Sweden.

Of course the intention may be to change the sex of the reindeer.

Yes, it stands for iron. That's why Volvo has it on its front.
