The reknown Swedish Heraldist Bengt Olof Kälde has died aged 77. Kälde almost singlehanded awoke the slumbering ecclestical heraldry in Sweden. And from the 1960ies to the 1990ies He was the man behind most of the Arms of the Bishops of the Church of Sweden. He was also official Painter of the Stallplates of the Order of the Seraphim 1989-2006 during which he painted 100 Stall Plates. Kälde's heraldic work also included Personal Arms for Swedes and Foreigners, Arms of Institutions, Authorities (Civil and Military) and Municpalities. He also created Colours and Standards for all the Dioceses of the Church of Sweden, many military Units and Student Associations (in Swedish Studentnationer).
Kälde's own Arms created in 1952.
Example of a Bishop's Arms by Kälde, here Martin Lind Bishop of Linköping (Church of Sweden) 1995-2011. On the Dexter side the diocesean Arms and on the sinster the personal Arms allundin to the Mantle of St. Martin. The Motto translates as "God is merciful".
