Two Lutheran Bishops Arms from Finland.

The Bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland generally don't use personal Arms but use only the diocesean Arms with the addition of a Mitre and a Crozier (and in the case of the Archbishop of Turku also a Cross-staff) behind the Shield. On the Forum of the Swedish Heraldry Society Tuomas Hyrsky showed two personal Arms, which I here share with you:

Image
John Vikström, Archbishop of Turku (Sw. Åbo) 1982-1998 and Bishop of Borgå (Fin. Porvoo) 1970-1982. Arms designed by Tapio Vallioja in 1993. This follows the general Scandinavian form for Bishop's Arms displaying in the first and fourth Quarters the Arms of the Archdiocese and in the other two Quarters the personal Arms. The Motto which is in Swedish (the Archbishop belongs to the Swedishspeaking minority in Finland) translates as "The Lord our Defence".

Arms of Olavi Rimpilöinen, Bishop of Oulu (Sw. Uleåborg) 1979-2000. Arms designed by Tapio Vallioja in 2000. Also here we have the traditional quartering of the diocesean and personal Arms. The Finnish Motto I unfortunately can't translate.
