An unusual division of the field in the arms which the CHA granted to Penhold Crossing Secondary School (in Alberta) last year :



Arms : Argent two feathers in saltire Sable bound Gules, adextré Gules, a chief Sable adextré Argent.

Crest : A hawk affronty displayed Sable beaked and membered Gules perched on a scroll fesswise Argent.

Supporters : Two mule deer guardant Gules attired and unguled Sable, each charged on the shoulder with a wild rose and standing on two shelves graded proper, set with books Sable and books Gules.

Motto : SCIENTIA EST POTENTIA.

I am very surprised that the CHA allowed a Secondary School supporters.

That is one fine emblazonment.

I have noticed that the Canadian authorities seem happy to grant supporters to non-personal grantees almost automatically (even commercial businesses), but, restrict supporters to personal grantees to only those of a higher level within Canadian society.

I have often wondered at the anomaly.

The College of Arms has somewhat convoluted rules regarding supporters. THe CHA seems to largely follow them, but not entirely. This thread is not, I think the place to discuss entitlement to supporters as a subject. I'll start a new thread later.
