The Bear denotes spirit and determination. It also features in the Crest of the Arms of Ontario. The coronet vallary symbolises protection and preparedness. The Osprey symbolises watchfulness. The Supporters symbolise strength and courage, the are made semé of Ermine spots as a reference to the Fauna of Northern Ontario. They are gorged with Trillium Flowers which are the Provincial Flower of Ontario. The Royal Crowns denote the role of the OPP to uphold the Queen's (or King's) Peace.

Here's a small conundrum. If ermine is black on white, ermines is white on black, erminois is black on gold and pean is gold on black (Boutell's Heraldry Chapter 4), what is gold on blue?

Azure ermined Or is one way I've seen it written, though the CHA blazoned it as Azure semé of Ermine spots Or (http://reg.gg.ca/heraldry/pub-reg/proje ... &ShowAll=1)
