The Arms of this Haitian Emperor according to Siebmacher is (my attempt at a blazon):
Azure in front of a Palm tree issuant from a mound Vert, a Eagle displayed standing on two Gun Barrels in saltire Or.
On the Shield the Haitian Imperial Crown. Supporters two Lion rampant Or langued Gules.
Motto: Dieu mon droit et mon epee = God my right and my sword.
The whole placed on a Mantle Purpure lined Ermine and crowned by the Imperial Crown.
Faustin-Élie Soulouque (15 Aug 1782 - 6 Aug 1867) was a Lieutenant-General and commander of the Presidental Guards. Elected President 1847 in 1849 he proclaimed him self Emperor as Faustin I. Follwing and illfated attempt to invade the Dominican Republic he was forced to abdicate in 1859.
