Thielemans arms

Postby Arthur Radburn » 23 Aug 2016, 17:19

The arms of a Belgian noble, Baron Thielemans, who died yesterday, aged 94. If the surname seems vaguely familiar, it's because he was a well-known jazz harmonica player, known as 'Toots' Thielemans.

King Albert II of the Belgians ennobled him as a baron in 2001, and granted him these arms at the same time. The patent of nobility/grant of arms document (and several others) can be seen on the artist Daniel Brose's website.

I wonder if the Barons descendants (if any) will appreciate the harmonica, unique heraldic charge though it probably is.
