The French Presidents awared the Order of the Seraphim seems to have a liking for using their Monogram.

Armand Fallères (1841-1931) President of the French Republic 1906-13 used Azure the Monogram AF Or.
Motto: L'Homme Ne Vaut Que Par Le Bien Qu'il Fait = We are judged by our deeds.

Also Emile Loubert (1838-1929) President of the French Republic 1899-1906 used the Monogram EL but in a more elaborate form the letters beeing shown two times mirrorvise and placed on a branch of foliage (perhaps Laurel) All Or on a Field Azure.
Loubert had the Motto: Virtute et Labore = Virtue and Work.

The illfated President Sadi Carnot who was President of the French Republic 1887-95 when he was murdered by a Italian Anarchist had proper Arms:
Azure below a star of five points three Merlettes two over one all Argent.
He had no Motto.

Moving to more modern times the President of the French Republic 1974-81 Valéry Giscard d'Estaing (born 1926 and also known as VGE) displayed at his Seraphim Stall Plate the following Arms:
Azure a Faces Or with Axe Argent and bound Argent and sourroude by a wreath of Laurel Or, bund Argent.
He had no Motto.

Marcus, do you have any images of the arms of any of the French Presidents from 'Kungliga Serafimerorden 1748-1998'?

Also, I might be mistaken but I believe I read somewhere Giscard d'Estaing was from an armigerous family.

President Giscard d'Estaing received from Queen Margrethe II of Denmark a coat of arms linked to the reception of the Order of the Elephant, which was reused by King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden, for his reception in the Order of the Seraphim

How would we know the arms of Presidents if not for the Order of the Seraphim?

President Jules Grevy was awarded the Order of the Seraphim, but he never bothered to specify to the Chancellary of the Order what Arms he wanted, and thus the Stall plate painted for him features a blank shield with no motto:

According to Arnaud Bunel's blog regarding the rues of Paris, these arms:

are the Arms of the Casimir-Perier family, and thus also of President Casimir-Perier

anyone know anything about these Arms? Were they granted or assumed pre-revolution or later?
