Bureau of Heraldry online

Postby Arthur Radburn » 08 Jul 2016, 19:27

The Bureau of Heraldry has a web presence at last. The National Archives have launched a new website, and given the Bureau its own section of it. It's still a work in progress, but there is a small gallery of images to look at : http://www.nationalarchives.gov.za/node/58

The link does not seem to load. Perhaps it is down for the moment.

The link worked yesterday but not this morning. I have also tried keying in the address rather than clicking on the link provided by Arthur, but that encounters the same problem.

The link works but reports "too many connections". Whilst one doesn't expect a government website to have a limited bandwidth it is possible that so many people have connected to the site that it has exceeded its allowance. It recently happened in the UK when electors attempted to register to vote at the last minute. It is likely that the site will be up and running soon. Patience is a virtue.

Also, it's Sunday, when the Archives are closed. When they get back to the office tomorrow and find the website is down, they'll no doubt call the State IT Agency to fix it.
