Armorial Bearings of the Municipal Association of South West Africa. Since the Independence of SWA as Namibia this Association has probably been renamed and the Use of the Arms is uncertain.

Thanks for posting this, Markus. The association is now called the 'Association of Local Authorities in Namibia', and it displays the arms on its website (http://www.alan.org.na).

Nice to see that they continue to use the Arms.

Agreed, Marcus, even if they do insist on charging the embattled chief with 'A L A N' - the initials of the organisation!

A L A N - no worse than SPQR, though without two centuries plus of history ;)

Seriously, if this wee bit of logophilia is all it takes to retain such nice arms, so be it!
Far better than contracting with some logo mill that doesn't know or care squat about proper heraldry.

Centuries? Well, you're only off by only one order of magnitude, I suppose!

Gee, doesn't "plus" cover that gaff? ;)

And in my defense, out here in la-la land, where we instinctively think on the Richter Scale, orders of magnitude come and go without all that much thought ... kinda like Congress with the budget and national debt...
