Bureau of Heraldry re-opened

Postby Arthur Radburn » 28 Oct 2021, 19:55

Interesting and welcome news : the Bureau of Heraldry has evidently re-opened after a long closure due to Covid-19. A couple of weeks ago they published, for objections, some applications for registration. These particular arms caught my eye :

Rabbolini.png

Arms :Azure, three bars wavy Argent, in pale a Nguni shield throughout Or thereupon three bars wavy Gules.

Crest : Upon a pile of three closed books arraswise in pale that in the centre reversed all bound Azure cut Argent and garnished Or, a fructed oak tree eradicated Or.

If they seem familiar to you too, it may be because they were discussed on one of the FB heraldry groups early last year.

The Bureau's website (well, its section of the Dept of Sport, Art & Culture's website) is : http://www.nationalarchives.gov.za/?q=node/58. The links don't seem to be working right now, though.

The gazetted notice of applications is here : https://www.gov.za/documents/heraldry-act-application-registration-heraldic-representations-and-objections-thereto-16.

Thank you for posting these. It must be me, but they really need to develop a better website.
