Armorial Bearings of the Frigate USS Rodney M. Davis FFG-60, The Grenade with the Sergeant's Stripes symbolises the enemy Grenade that Sgt. Rodney M. Davis, USMC threw himself at when it landed in midst of his Platoon in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam 6 September 1967. His selfsacrifice that saved many lives of his Platoon is symbolised by the Pelican in the Crest it bears suspended from the neck a inverted star symbolising the Medal of Honor awared posthumoustly to Sgt Davis. The Bamboo Spig symbolises South Vietnam where Sgt Davies fougth and died.

Re: U.S. Navy Heraldry
The motto of USS Warrior: Full Speed Ahead may be a paraphrase of Admiral Farragut's legendary command at the battle of Mobile Bay during the American Civil War: Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!¤. In those days "torpedoes" was the term used for what we now know as (sea) mines, so appropriate for a MCM vessel.
¤ his actual words were supposedly: "Damn the torpedoes! Four bells. Captain Drayton, go ahead! Jouett, full speed!"
