Hello, My name is Elaine and I'm new here. On and off throughout the years I have tried to find out more information about my family's Coat of Arms but to be honest it seemed over the top of my head all the different parts of Coats of Arms. My dear father died many years ago and I have many regrets of not asking him more about our heritage and many of my German relatives who could answer my questions are no longer here and my German isn't fluent. I vaguely remember one story my dad told me when I was young,was he pulling my leg or was it the truth....that I can't remember but he said one of our relatives was a Baron Von Seefeldt and that he gambled the castle away. Our family originally came from Prussia,near Brandenburg area. Here is the Coat of Arms. I would be very grateful if anyone can help me understand the Coat of Arms and any advice into how I can find out about my family. Owing to the many Seefeldts who immigrated to the US early 19th century, I just wonder if any were my ancestors. I know my Oma and Opa moved to southern Germany but I presume they had sisters and brothers and I havent a clue where they landed up.

The arms are definitely German (Danzig) in origin. However, one would have to do the genealogical research to ascertain if they belonged to your bloodline.

Jonathan, I have a feeling the early version of the name was Von Seefeld and I'm pretty sure my memory tells me when my father told me about the Baron it was around the 16th/17th century.

The heraldic waterlily is called seeblatt. I think they are three of these alluding to Seefeldt.
