Thanks Chris and Joseph..

I found articles of interest on the always surprising Wikipedia: one regarding Portugal king of arms,
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portugal_Rei_de_Armas

And an even more impressive article on portuguese heraldry, which includes a section on the granting authorities,
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_heraldry

Just in case some members haven't seen these yet..

Here is a link to the heraldry page of the Czech Genealogy and Heraldry Society of Prague. Unfortunately, only the home page seems to be available in English (flag at upper right corner on screen). As a fellow member of the Germany-based forum Heraldik im Netz (http://www.heraldik-wappen.de), who descends from old Czech nobility that lost their lands after the Battle of White Mountain that kicked off the 30 Years' War (they were on the losing side, but at least didn't lose their heads as some did), only personal coats of arms are legally allowed in the Czech Republic, as the laws passed after WWI in the then newly independent Czechoslovakia as well as in Austria, eliminated the special rights of the now-former nobility and prohibited the use/display of family COAs. I recently saw an article in an Austrian publication mentioning that the highest court in Austria had a case where the issue of displaying a family COA arose once again and the existing law prevailed.

Enjoy the images.
