Chris has got a brand new Badge

Postby Chris Green » 24 Sep 2012, 09:15

My wife and I visited the College of Arms last Friday for me to take delivery of the Letters Patent for my new Badge (which includes exemplification of my Standard). I shall reveal all in due course, but by way of a little competition, see who can come up with a picture to match the blazon:

A Canterbury Cross Gules within a Chaplet of twelve Chickweed Wintergreen (Trientalis Europaea) Flowers Argent Leaved Vert.

I don't have access to a decent art rendering program at work with which to create an "entry" (alas, MS Paint is all I have here :? ), but having seen pictures of the flower, I can imagine this is quite a beautiful badge. Congratulations on the new grant!

Close indeed. You have the correct cross, but it is all red, not raspberry ripple. The layout of the flowers is correct and they are six-petalled, but the leaves are leaves not a green torque.

Also a good effort Ryan. The cross is correctly all red (though Chas' version is more accurate as to shape - curved outer edges not straight). But there are 12 flowers not 8.

The inside edge of the rim of each arm of the cross has somehow become serrated. It isn't.

Chas and Ryan are neck and neck, but I have yet to see an entry that gets an A.
