Blazon and Identification Challenge

Postby Hugh Wood » 11 Oct 2018, 13:11

Please help me blazon the 6th quarter in the attached arms of Sir Andrew Corbet (d.1578) then I might have more chance of identifying the coat.
It looks as if it should be blazoned 'gules two bars azure, each bar charged with a pale argent' but I can't find anything like that listed in DBA so maybe it should be blazoned differently.
The other quarters are
1. Corbet
2. Fitzherbert? - though I haven't found a family connection
3. Hopton
4. Lucy
5. Archdeacon
6.
7. Burley

Thanks
Hugh

Welcome to the forum, Hugh.

I wonder if Q 6 is supposed to be "Gules two bars compony Azure and Argent" (or Argent and Azure). If so, the latter blazon is given in Burke's General Armory under Burley, without further details.
