International Day of Light

Today, 16 May, is the International Day of Light. The day was established by Unesco last year, as "a global initiative that provides a platform for the continued appreciation of light and the role it plays in science, culture and art, education and sustainable development". Well, let's see how that can translate into heraldry.

Okanagan College - CHA 1989.jpg

Sunlight and torchlight -- the arms of Okanagan College in British Columbia, Canada, granted in 1989.

Candelo - 1931.jpg

Candlelight -- four candles in the arms of the town of Candelo in Italy, granted in 1931.

Medicine Hat -- CHA 1998.jpg

Gaslight -- an "exterior gaslight mantle tempore 1906" in the civic arms of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, granted in 1998.

Electric light -- a light bulb in the arms of the Witwatersrand Technical College in South Africa, dating from the 1920s.

Can you add any other examples to illuminate this theme?
