Some mountain heraldry for International Mountain Day (11 December). There are several ways of depicting or alluding to mountains in heraldry, for instance :
the stylised "mount of six coupeaux", as seen in the centuries-old municipal arms of Mahlberg in Baden-Württemberg (Germany);
the "landscape" approach, as seen in the state arms of [Colorado (USA), dating from 1861;
a "stylised representation of Table Mountain" forming the compartment to the provincial arms of the Western Cape (South Africa), registered in 1998.
