Hello all,

Gerd Hruška, a German/Czech heraldist, heraldic artist and fellow member of the Heraldik im Netz forum in Germany (you can see some of his work here https://www.heraldik-wiki.de/wiki/Kateg ... ru%C5%A1ka) has been trying to raise awareness of International Heraldry Day in his circles and contributed the attached drawing in the HIN forum, which I would like to post here.

I'm a 66 y.o. budding pursuivant extraordinary. What is the significance of "1128" CE?

On 10 June 1128, the 14 year old Geoffrey of Anjou was knighted by King Henry I of England as part of the preparations for his marriage to King Henry's daughter and heiress-presumptive the Dowager Empress Matilda. During the ceremony it is recorded that Geoffrey was presented by King Henry with a blue shield on which were six golden lions. This is the first historically recorded grant of arms, and as such has been widely accepted by the heraldist community as a suitable date for International Heraldry Day.

Thank you. I thought it might have something to do with that. Quite informative.
