Honours for heralds

I see that two British officers of arms have been honoured in the Queen's Birthday honours list.

In England, the outgoing Garter King of Arms, Thomas Woodcock, has been made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO). So he is now Sir Thomas Woodcock.

In Scotland, the Rothesay Herald, Sir Crispin Agnew of Lochnaw, has been made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).

For members not familiar with British honours : the Royal Victorian Order is a personal award conferred by the monarch, on members of the Royal Family and on those who serve the monarch(y) loyally for a long time. It has five grades, the KCVO being the second-highest and the LVO the fourth. Unlike most British orders, the government plays no part in the selection of those to be honoured.
