I do not know what that charge is, but I did a research paper on Sir Lucan in undergrad for an Arthurian Legend class. I will say that in modern terms he is more akin to a chamberlain (being in charge of managing the royal household and organizing court functions) rather than a butler (simply in charge of a serving staff).
In the vast majority of the Arthurian armorials that I came across, Sir Lucan is attributed a red lynx, usually on a gold shield – not unlike the arms here attributed to Sir Owen. That’s one of the many reasons that I chose the crest that I did.
