Note though that one branch of the family at one time used them without the neck (caboshed) and the other did, however, at the time of the two branches both having grand-ducal rank, the arms of the two branches were identical. Presently, there is only one (formerly morganatic) branch of the family extant, descended from the Count of Carlow.
