Heraldic Term?

Postby Chas Charles-Dunne » 07 Aug 2012, 11:40

I have come across, what purports to be an heraldic term -

Cyclamor

Without looking it up - Do you know what it is? If so, how would you describe it?

If you have to look it up - where did you find the answer?

I would prefer honest answers please - An "I've never heard of it", is just as important as a full explanation. To that end, I am giving no clues.

Thanks in advance -
Regards

Thank you, Kathy. I know perfectly well what it is. I wanted to know, if you did. That is why I asked my first question -

Without looking it up - Do you know what it is? If so, how would you describe it?

I wish I could have done this as a poll.

Sigh ...

Chas - I'll confess I was unfamiliar with the term.

Kathy - pay attention! :geek:

Chas, I will admit to not having seen that tem before. Kathy already cited my go-to source - Parker, 1894

I had also never heard that term before. Thanks to Kathy for doing the "research" for the rest of us. Google is your friend. :D

I figured it would be more useful to post the citations than to just say "no."

So, Chas...what's behind this thread? Are you simply testing our knowledge of a moderately rare term, or have you an example to discuss, or a synonym to compare, or something else altogether?
