Something to add to the reading list : a journal entitled The Heraldic Craftsman, which is published quarterly by the Society of Heraldic Arts. As the title implies, the focus is on the arts and crafts side of heraldry, e.g. painting, digital art, sculpture, carving, stained glass, enamelling, restoration, and profiles of artists. The articles are lavishly illustrated in colour. Here are a few examples :

Image
From issue 88, the carved and painted arms of Julian Cotterell.

From issue 89, paintings of some Macedonian municipal coats of arms.

From issue 94, an enamelled badge designed for Dr Andrew Parmley when he was a sheriff of London, before he became lord mayor.

Copies in pdf format can be downloaded from the Society's website : http://www.heraldic-arts.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10&Itemid=142.
