Fellow IAAH members, I request some help. My question concerns the English peerage title ‘Baron Saye and Sele’. Specifically, what and where the ‘Sele’ part comes from. The ‘Saye’ part seems to be derived from the town of Sai in Normandy, but I can’t find anything on the ‘Sele’ part. Thank you for any help.

Re: Baron Saye and Sele
As I said in the IAAH FB group:
Sele may refer to a hamlet and priory in West Sussex, near to the village of Upper Beeding. The Fiennes Barons Saye and Sele owned lands in Sussex.
