I am sort of wondering why St. Edward's Crown has been put directly on to the Helm rather than using the Royal Crest as used in England...not to mention the use of what seems to be a Robe of Estate rather than mantling :-/

It seems to have been customary in the 19th century to display arms on carriages against a robe of estate; note that the same basic emblazonment (including the crown without the lion crest) appears on the 1902 state landau, photo on the 1st page of the thread. I'm guessing that the maker of the new coach simply followed that pattern.
