Reference is quite often made in this Forum to the Court of Chivalry. Few know of the short period in its history when it became a constitutional issue. This site provides some fascinating background:

Sadly the database that once existed has ceased to be.

Too bad about the database being gone. It offered some revealing insights, such as the many cases in which one party's gentility was in question and neither side raised in evidence whether a coat of arms was on record at the college.

It is still there - top left hand corner. A drop-down menu, then press "go".

I was foxed by the warning notice that appears when one clicks on "Search the Database" on the home page. But indeed the database is still there at top left.
