To anyone's knowledge, has a platypus even been used in heraldry (as a charge, crest, supporter, &c) ?

I post this under "Australasian Heraldry", as that seems logical, but I won't eschew answers from other lands :)

There's an example in Australian naval heraldry : the ship's badge of HMAS Platypus :

I replied some days ago: Could be naiant.

well, if naiant means swimming, I don't think that is likely because of the position of legs and tail.
I would blazon it Vert, a platypus statant bendwise sinister bill towards base and tail embowed Or Does that seem right?

The platypus should correctly be blazoned either statant (if on land) or naiant (if in swimming mode). In HMAS Platypus' case it would be statant.
