I just found this while I was looking for something else, and though it might be of interest : carved arms of governors-general of New Zealand, as displayed at Government House. There are several pages on different aspects of the arms and heraldry. If you click on any of the images of the carved arms, it'll lead to a gallery of all of them.

They include Dame Catherine Tizard's arms, complete with a knight's helmet and a crest (a special privilege for female governors-general), which was discussed on the old message board last year.

Nice, but the pictures could be better they are a bit small.

Having selected the arms you want to view and clicked on them, you click on "View image details". In the new screen, click on the arms again and they will enlarge with the addition of an enlargement click as well. Big enough for anyone, I think.

I have been to Government House several times and always go to view the display of vice-regal heraldry.

It appears that the photographs on the Government House website were taken under existing lighting conditions in the entrance hall rather than with professional lighting. Sad really, as the panels are always admired by visitors.

A very nice collection of carvings. It really is a pity that details of the artists are not provided.
